Many people in the Middle East have endured the loss of their home and family. Thousands have barely escaped with their lives, driven from their homeland to live as refugees or displaced people in makeshift accommodation. We are pleased to bring you a report on a blanket distribution program.
We reached over 8,000 families in central and northern Egypt, where our contacts told us many were in great need. These blankets are good quality and large enough to cover a family of four, giving children the security of being close to their parents on cold winter nights.
We distributed even more blankets than anticipated after our national contact secured them from a wholesaler who was sympathetic to our cause and sold them at a reduced rate.
Blankets were also distributed in Iraq, where extreme cold has been met with warmth: a tangible reminder to families that they are not forgotten.
